This is a short course comprising of two series of illustrated talks, aimed at demystifying the more difficult areas of contemporary art. No previous experience is expected but an open mind is an advantage. The PowerPoint sessions take place in a relaxed atmosphere. There is no set book, but you are welcome to borrow books from my own collection.
Part One normally runs in the Autumn and explores what is usually considered to be the more difficult aspects of art today, looking at Minimalism, Photo-art, Installation, Conceptual art, Land art, Political art, Feminist art, Text and Ephemera, Video art, Performance art.
For those who wish to continue, Part Two runs after Christmas and explores the major painters and sculptors post 1950.
