Sadly, as of June 2026, this group is no longer running. It had been in existence since 2018 and this page provides links to online resources the group made use of.

We are always looking for new Group Leaders. If you feel you could re-start this group and act as Group Leader, please get in touch with the Groups Coordinator using the button below.

Hello and wecome, if you have clicked here it possibly means you have an interest in looking at buildings around you. You don't need any prior knowledge. You might  wonder Why, How, When, Who or just think you would like to know more. We have a few spaces at the moment, so click the link above, send us a message, then come and join us.

This group was previously known as A History of British Buildings, but having reached the 1950's, we then looked at more recent buildings and their architects in various countries.

Sometimes we explore the use of new materials, new technologies, design influences, politics, economic conditions and changing fashions.

All members of the group are encouraged to contribute to meetings

Timelines TV — Andrew Chater (This link should take you to an explanation about Timelines TV. Timelines.tv reversions the material in modular form across three parallel timelines: Use your cursor to move backwards and forwards in time.
The PURPLE timeline covers Social History - the story of our changing lives.
The BROWN timeline covers Political History - the story of rulers and ruled, from feudal tyranny to the dawn of democracy.
The GREEN timeline covers Imperial History - the story of the formation of the UK, and the rise and fall of the British Empire.)
