15th April 2024:- The true cost of fish by Andy Malcolm

Andy is from the Fishermen’s Mission. He tells tales of life at sea for today’s UK fisherman and the work of the Fishermen’s Mission.                                        

20th May 2024:- The history of Jewellery. by Jason Middleton

Jason looks at the concept of Jewellery from the earliest Civilisations through to modern day including periods such as the Renaissance, Victorian Period, Art Deco, Art Nouveau to Jewellery online today.

 

17th June 2024:- Change in Speaker, An introduction into AI. by Barry Claydon

Barry is going to give us an introduction into Artifical Intelligence. I expect like most of us we run a mile at the thought of AI but we come across it much more than we think, talking on the phone, on line etc. so Barry is going to give us an introduction to a subject that is going to affect all of us more and more

Bill was a security guard in various settings telling tales of his long career in protection

 

Jan 20th 2025  A Handsome Little Town’: a virtual tour of Bury St Edmunds - Adrian Tindal

Adrian looks at the history of Burry St Edmunds from the time it was settled in Ango-Saxon times including King Edmund, Saxon Kings, Tudor Queens and Mr Pickwick

 

Feb 17th 2025 Cryptic Crosswords - Angela Bell

Angela has a lifelong interest in word games and runs several crossword groups. She will talk about the cryptic crossword from its history to present day. She has several good write ups from other u3as and WIs

 

March 17th 2025 Drought Gardening Sonia Burrows

Sonia is a well-known speaker to local groups talking on all types of gardening but as the weather is getting hotter and dryer drought gardening is becoming something we have to start considering. Sonia talks about all aspects of this

 

April 14th 2025 The Weather Forcast Tony Diamond

Tony is a regular speaker to the u3a. In his usual fashion he will use prose to talk about the weather forecast

 

May 19th 2025 Submarine Accidents. - Peter Biggs

Peter was a submariner for many years which has spurred his interest in submarine accidents.

 

June 16th 2025 Stay Tunned - How a boy from a farm became an international broadcaster. - Roy Clark

Roy has been a broadcaster for almost 40 years both in the UK and the USA. He tells the story of how a famers boy started his career in local roadio, including Radio Caroline to becoming an internation broadcaster
