This is a well established group that has been running for several years. I took over as leader about eight years ago. We hire playsets from the Music and Drama library in Ipswich and there is a small monetary contribution from each member to cover the costs.

We read an eclectic mix of plays from Chekov to Willie Russell and everything in between.

Some of our most recent readings have been:

  • “Caught in the Net” by Ray Cooney which was hilarious and great fun to read
  • “The Importance of Being Earnest”, an old favourite
  • “Murder at St Magnus”, a humorous ‘whodunnit’ written by one of our members!
  • “Uncle Vanya” by Chekhov

Members take it in turns, if they feel able to, to choose (and cast) the plays and to host the meetings. We, of course, always have an interval for tea and biscuits!
